What Is Meratrim?

Meratrim is a supplement formulated to promote weight loss. It is recommended by Dr.Oz.

It utilizes two herbs garcinia mangostana and sphaeranthus indicus to boost the metabolism of fats.

InterHealth Nutraceuticals manufactures Meratrim and claims to have carried out clinical studies on both herbs.

But the company was acquired by Lonza and does not directly sell its products to the customers.

Meratrim promises the following benefits:

  • Burns stored fat
  • Blocks fat storage
  • Inhibits fat cells multiplication
  • Improved digestive health

The manufacturer states that Meratrim has been shown to help lose weight and reduce hip and waist circumference in randomized trials.

Ingredients

meratrim ingredientsAs mentioned earlier, Meratrim contains two active ingredients.

Garcinia Mangostana Fruit-peel extract
Mangosteen is a tropical fruit with a rich supply of antioxidants, fiber, and nutrients. It is has been used for its medicinal purpose for centuries. Due to its anti-inflammatory properties and fiber content, garcinia mangostana may support fat loss. It is popular in supporting weight loss. A study published in the Nutrition Journal 1 shows that individuals who took garcinia Mangostana juice twice daily had a lower body mass index than the control. Besides, it supports blood sugar control; it is rich in fiber and plant compounds that reduce blood sugar. However, more human research is needed to support these claims.
Sphaeranthus Indicus Flower Extract
Sphaeranthus Indicus has been popularly used in ayurvedic medicine to treat various conditions including skin diseases, mental illness, jaundice, epilepsy, gastropathy, and cough. Studies show that this flowering plant may improve immunity, lower inflammation, block viral activities, control diabetes, and heal wounds. It has also been seen to boost T-levels, an important hormone in weight control. Studies show that obesity is closely related to low testosterone levels in men. But, there are no studies that directly show that it affects weight loss.

How Does Meratrim Work

The manufacturer claims that Meratrim works in three primary ways.

It accelerates fat cells to burn stored fat, makes it hard for fat cells to multiply, and reduces the amount of fat in your bloodstream.

Meratrim stimulates thermogenesis which promotes metabolism, enhancing weight loss. Also, it inhibits fat storage and boosts your digestive health.

In studies 2 involving 100 adults, the Meratrim group lost 11 pounds compared to the placebo that lost 3.3 pounds.  They noticed reduced fasting glucose, triglycerides, and total cholesterol levels.

Also, individuals noticed 4.7 inches off their waist, reduced hip circumference, and lower body mass index.

Moreover, Meratrim was seen to yield other health benefits including prostate relief, reduced inflammation, reduced cholesterol levels, and the prevention of harmful blood clots in the body.

How To Use It?

You should take 800 mg of Meratrim per day, which translates to 2 capsules per day.

It should be taken at least 30 minutes before taking lunch and your evening meal daily for maximum results.

You should not exceed the recommended daily dosage to reduce the risk of side effects.

One user reported:

If you have any type of blood sugar issues, consult a doctor before you try this product. Balancing blood glucose levels is often the key to weigh to weight loss, and this product does affect my levels. Unfortunately, it produced consistently TOO low levels which resulted in a mental fog, constant exhaustion, and increased appetite to try and get my levels up. With a 5 day 1.5-hour gym routine, a very clean diet, and Meratrim the result was I was left feeling like I was constantly sluggish and unbalanced. I did not have any weight loss before I decided to discontinue, I’m attributing this to the too-low blood sugar levels putting my body into “survival mode” all the time.

Meratrim Reviews: What People Say About This Product?

Let’s start with some positive reviews.

Bev N says:

I’m almost finished with my first bottle and ordering more. In the first week, I lost 2 lbs. I’ve noticed I’m also losing inches. What I like about this product is that I’m not feeling as hungry between meals. I’m also not eating as much during my main meals. This may not work for everyone but for me, it has definitely curbed my appetite.

Michael Dixon writes:

I started taking this back in October of this year. So far, I’ve lost 14 lbs! No side effects either. No jitters, no racing heart….nothing but great results. I’m an overweight diabetic so losing weight has been a help in lowering my blood/sugar numbers. I’m about to order my 3rd bottle.

What about negative reviews?

One user reports:

I got these after reading online articles and reviews stating no side effects. I took them for about a week and got violently ill with diarrhea and vomiting. I wasn’t sure this was the cause but stopped using them and felt back to normal. Then after a week, I thought I’d try again and yesterday I again got violently ill with the same symptoms. I’ve read that it takes 2 weeks to start working so this could be why it took so long to get sick but for me, I am convinced this is the cause. I threw the rest out and would not recommend it.

AMB writes:

I kept taking this hoping my body would adjust to it, but I’d have to hit the bathroom with stomach issues probably about 20 minutes after taking it every morning. I’ve stopped taking it, and I haven’t lost any weight – despite using the bathroom more than usual! 😉 Not happy with this product.

EDIT: I contacted the company at the same time I wrote this review and they immediately refunded me and told me it should not make me feel that way!
