Who Makes ZQuiet?
This device was designed by Dan and Katerina Webster in conjunction with Avery Lieberman, DDS.
The Websters sought a solution to deal with Dan’s snoring. They formed the company Sleeping Well LLC.
Dr. Lieberman has over 20 years dental experience. This experience includes the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea with oral appliances. He is also the founder of The Treatment Center for Disturbed Sleep.
The company also supplies custom oral appliances to dentists and medical professionals. They are aiming to build a list of trained sleep dentists.
What Is ZQuiet?
The medical term for your jawbone is a mandible. Advancement means “the act of moving forward”. This means that an MAD – like a ZQuiet – is a mouthpiece that moves the jaw forward.
So how does moving your jaw forward help relieve snoring? Let see what causes snoring and how this device works.
How Does ZQuiet Work
There are many reasons why people snore. One of these reasons is the partial obstruction of the airway to and from the lungs. This may be caused by relaxation of the muscles in the tongue and throat tissue.
When we sleep the lower jaw relaxes. This in turn causes the surrounding muscles and tissue to relax. Gravity causes your tongue to fall backwards towards your throat. This narrows the airway, restricting air flow. As a result the air passing through vibrates and causes a noise. This is what we call snoring.
An MAD aims to help lessen the restriction on your airways. It does this by moving the jaw forward and away from the back of your throat. This may also cause the tongue to move forward and open up the airway. This can reduce the air resistance that leads to snoring.
This device offers a Two Step Custom System and Natural Hinged Technology.
Two Step Custom System
- You are supplied with two mouthpieces. They are different sizes depending on whether you need a small adjustment to your jaw, or a little more. Having the two options allows you to see which may work better for you.
Natural Hinged Technology

It is ready to use straight from the box. You do not need to mold it. There is no special fitting procedure. If needed, you can trim it with small scissors to improve fit. After trimming the company advises that you use a nail file or emery board to smooth any rough edges. This will avoid irritation to the gums.

ZQuiet Side Effects
MAD’s work by moving the lower jaw forward. This may cause discomfort as your jaw muscles are held in a position they are not used to.
The discomfort should pass after a few days in some cases, in others maybe a few weeks. The discomfort should also ease during the day when you are not wearing the device.
You may also find initially that you drool a bit more on your pillow. This is due to excess saliva production. It may pass after a few weeks.
Some people have also reported that it may make your teeth sore or feel loose. This feeling should go away in a few hours. The company advice you discontinue use and see your dentist if it lasts more than six hours.
It may also initially make your tongue a bit tender.

Ron F reports:
I’ve been using ZQuiet® for 3-4 years now. I had been thinking I needed to try something for my snoring for awhile, then I put action to it when I was sent to the basement when I was keeping everyone IN THE HOUSE up on vacation with my in-laws! I ordered it right away and it was waiting for me when we got home from vacation. It worked from night 1. I used to think I was wearing this for my wife, so she can sleep. It hit me a couple of weeks ago when my wife was out of town for a night, so I didn’t wear it. I ended up waking up several times and just had a restless night of sleep. Not only is ZQuiet® for my wife, but it’s FOR ME TOO! Thanks for thinking of this great product! I’m very rested!
Not everyone is quite as happy. Some people report that the product may not last very long.
Adriana Priscal writes:
It works alright. I bought the zquiet for my husband not too long ago. It definitely has reduced his snoring and allowed me to get some rest, but I’m not overwhelmed with the results. My biggest complaint is the quality of the product. I am already starting to see signs of aging from use and i’m not really sure how much longer it is going to be before I have to replace it. Would I recommend? Yes
Meanwhile some people find it too uncomfortable to use. There are also comments about poor customer service.
Deb writes:
My advice would be DO NOT BUY this device. Extremely uncomfortable, and extremely RUDE customer service. It will be a miracle if they don’t charge my credit card $60
