TRU Niagen Review

TRU Niagen Review 2020: Should You Buy It?

David J. Grossklaus Written By : David J. Grossklaus   ✓ Fact Checked

TRU Niagen is a breakthrough nutrient that works to support healthy cellular metabolism by increasing levels of a vital molecule known as nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD).

Ageing is one thing every human can never escape from.

As you grow older, it gets difficult to do the things you used to back in your youth.

This is because ageing slows down cellular activities; hence cognition and metabolism tend to slow down.

TRU Niagen claims to make you age better by lowering the cellular ageing for up to 66%.

The manufacturer focuses on the importance of NAD (Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) in our body.

NAD is essential in cellular energy production; it is a coenzyme that fuels metabolic processes.

However, individuals lose up to 50 percent from the age of 40.

Therefore, without NAD, cells have low energy to maintain the ageing process.

TRU Niagen seeks to:

  • Recharge NAD levels.
  • Encourages cellular repair.
  • Energizes cells.
  • Promotes healthy mitochondria.
  • Prevents cellular damage.

Let’s learn more about Tru Niagen.

What Is Tru Niagen?

Tru Niagen is a dietary supplement that claims to increase NAD levels, which are associated with a slow ageing process.

It is a branded form of nicotinamide riboside (NR), a type of vitamin B3 which seeks to reprogram cells to function like they are younger.

Tru Niagen is manufactured by ChromaDex, a company that claims that Tru Niagen has undergone more than 5 human clinical trials and over 100 preclinical trials.

Additionally, it has received 3 FDA safety reviews.

TRU Niagen Ingredients

TRU Niagen ingredients

TRU Niagen contains one primary active ingredient.

Nicotinamide Riboside Chloride (300mg)
Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) 1 is a form of Vitamin B3, which is the precursor to NAD+. It is converted into nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) in the body. NAD+ facilitates various functions in the body, including. Facilitating cell repair, Converting food into fuel, Preventing radical damage, Maintain healthy mitochondria cells. As you grow older, the level of NAD tends to go down; low levels have been linked to ageing and some diseases like Alzheimer’s disease, vision loss, and diabetes. Studies show that NAD + may help reverse signs of ageing and prevent chronic diseases.
Microcrystalline cellulose
Microcrystalline cellulose 2 is a form of plant matter obtained from tough plant stalks like wood pulp or cotton linen. It contains several glucose units that aid in the perfect growth of the cells and also promote more energy for cellular activities. It is used as a binding agent for nicotinamide riboside.
Hypromellose
This is a common ingredient used in making veggie capsules, and it's common in many nootropics. It ensures that Tru Niagen is free from animal products and preservatives 3.

How Does TRU Niagen Work?

Scientists believe that the primary cause of ageing is due to low levels of NAD+.

NAD+ is a coenzyme present in living cells that facilitates various functions, including cellular metabolism.

However, with increasing age, NAD levels decline  making it hard for cells to function properly.

This may result in chronic diseases due to lack of energy and cell damage.

TRU Niagen works by boosting NAD + levels in the body.

It contains nicotinamide riboside, a precursor to NAD.

Thus, it helps to synthesis more NAD+.

NAD facilitates energy transfer to cells and the proper functioning of the mitochondria.

Therefore, healthy levels of NAD promote excellent communication between the mitochondria and the nucleus of other cells.

This prevents age-related cognitive decline, lowers neuro-macular degeneration and boosts energy levels.

NAD+ helps people suffering from jet lag by resetting their body’s internal clock hence bringing balance to the cardiac rhythm.

Besides, it protects brain cells from oxidative stress, which is mostly linked to brain disorders like Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s disease.

TRU Niagen regulates blood pressure, which is vital for healthy cognition and brain function.

How To Use TRU Niagen?

TRU Niagen is packaged in pure med bottles.

A single bottle contains 60 capsules, which equate to a 30-day supply.

One capsule is equivalent to 150 g of the Nicotinamide riboside chloride.

You should take 2 capsules daily, in the morning before or after meals.

The dosage is not intended for children under the age of 18.

Also, pregnant women or people with pre-existing health conditions are advised to consult their doctors before using TRU Niagen.

Here is what one user wrote.

“Like everyone, I had high hopes for this product. I did listen to a number of video reviews of this. I took this for a couple of months in mid-2018. I suddenly felt numbness in my right leg and arm reoccurring for several days lasting for a few minutes at a time. I stopped taking it for a week and the symptoms stopped almost as soon as I stopped taking this. I elected to take it again. Within days I woke with limited sensation on my entire right side. A day stay at the hospital and MRI indicated transient strokes. I stopped taking this supplement; my symptoms are gone.”

TRU Niagen Reviews: What People Say About This Product?

Let’s see what some users had to say.

Ryan N says:

“I’m a physician, and I originally researched Niagen because my dad started taking it, and I wanted to talk him out of it (since most supplements have no proven benefit). However, after looking at the research on Nicotinamide Riboside, I realized I should start taking it too because the data available is pretty incredible, and it’s also proven safe. After 6 weeks, I noticed my solar lentigo (those brown spots we get from the sun/age) completely faded. This fading of sun damage makes sense since NR has been shown to reduce non-melanomatous skin cancers by about 25%. I also feel like it gives me more energy like a shot of espresso without the buzz. I’m looking forward to larger human studies getting published! Hope they back up current data.”

Hugh L.Brennan says:

“I have no doubt this is a fine product; it just wasn’t for me. It caused a severe reaction that I’m still suffering with even though I stopped taking it over a week ago. NR boosts the immune system, which isn’t always a good thing, especially for those of us with auto-immune or sensitive immune systems. I, unfortunately, I didn’t see immune system issues when researching it.”

Malcolm says:

“I didn’t expect to see anti-aging benefits for years, but self, family, and friends have had surprising results from taking Niagen. Improvements with all kinds of things related to nerves: foot numbness gone, twitching gone, less waking at night to urinate, even a five-months-long rash that looked like shingles gone after two weeks on Niagen. Blood pressure down, too. Studies show safe up to 2 grams per day. I’ve taken 500 mg/day for a year, now 750 mg.”

Vivian writes:

“I used the first two of three bottles, hoping for more energy, less lethargy, and just feeling better. I didn’t notice feeling any different at all after two bottles. I haven’t even opened the third bottle, and wonder if I should bother taking them at all. I always wonder, when ordering something like this, if it’s just one more of the many things people come up with as a “make money quick” scheme. There are so many ineffective things on the market that it’s difficult to decide what’s worth the money and what isn’t. Because I didn’t notice any difference at all in the way I feel, even if this isn’t a “get rich quick” scheme, it’s pretty expensive for not feeling any different. Sorry, but $100 for 3 bottles is a lot of money. For me, it felt like a waste.”

  1. Personally I have tried Niagen for 6 months already.

I m 50, male, and before taking Niagen, I feel always tired, no energy, no stamina.
After taking Niagen, first 2 months, no significant difference but after 3 months, I feel like totally different! Huge energy, I feel like I am back to 20+! BUT my gray hairs remain gray! My wrinkles still there. How I wish they disappear. Still I m taking because it make me “internally” feel much younger! Full of energy!

Now I saw a research paper that Niagen might even help fight Covid19, I keep recommending to my friends take Niagen as an extra precaution. See below:-
A study based on BioRxiv suggest boosting NAD+ may help body defeat Covid-19. It suggests it could lower the dangerous cytokine storm that overwhelms the patient’s lungs and damages to organs.

  2. I noticed better mental clarity almost within days of starting Tru Niagen, at about 6 months I noticed much better eye sight and didn’t need #1 glasses to read newspaper at around 500mg/day. Also easier to hill run ( i m 60+)smoother skin and around 9mths my daughter found 8 hairs which were grey at top half and black at bottom half which i could hardly believe. A year on i still have greys but pretty sure this has slowed progression in grey head hair but not beard or mustache .Touch wood i have not had a cold since starting. Now i see NAD is front and center of the immune cells defense in a covid trial and viruses in general . Certainly worth taking as a natural immune cell booster. I have many friends now on it and none have noticed any negative side effects.
